By this point, Sydney Sweeney is a well-known actress who starred in various hit shows, from The White Lotus to Euphoria. Sweeney has quickly made her mark in the acting industry. But before all the glitz and glamour, she faced many struggles trying to succeed. Here's what she revealed about getting started in Hollywood.
The star recently graced the cover of GQ Magazine, where she spilled the tea about the difficulties she dealt with through her acting journey. For starters, the 24-year old was raised in Spokane, Washington. And at the age of 12, Sweeney already knew that she was wanted to go into acting. To make this dream a reality, she had to convince her parents by devising a five-year plan. Luckily for her, it worked, and the family found a way to travel back and forth from Spokane to Los Angeles.
They then permanently resided in Los Angeles. But unfortunately, due to financial troubles, their home in Washington was taken away, ultimately leading to Sweeney's parent's separation. "I always thought that when I turned 18, I'd have made enough money to buy my parents' old house back," Sweeney recalled. Things weren't looking so bright for the actress. At one point, she and her family had all been sharing one room in a hotel. And things in the acting biz didn't seem to be going well: "A casting director told me once that I will never be on a TV show," she revealed. Apparently, she was told she didn't have the "right look." Crazy, right?!

Her luck began to turn around when she landed the role of Alice in Sharp Objects. From there Sweeney played the part of Emaline in Everything Sucks! It wasn't long till the blonde bombshell was cast as her now-iconic role of Cassie on HBO's Euphoria. "Now, I'm on some of the biggest TV shows in the world," she gushed referring back to what the casting director had once said. This wasn't the first time she's spoken about being dismissed in the industry. Sweeney previously talked about how critics didn't value her performance in Euphoria because she participated in nude scenes. She's done with the double standards, and it doesn't look like she'll be staying quiet about it... Stay tuned.
