Madelyn Cline Opens Up About Her Growth as an Actress
| LAST UPDATE 10/13/2021
From her early days as a Stranger Things secondary role to her smash success in Outerbanks, Madelyn Cline has had a whirlwind career in the past few years. And after a summer of working on larger film projects, the 23-year-old actress was feeling grateful for where her acting journey has taken her.
The North Carolina-born actress sat down with Buzzfeed for an interview about some of her biggest roles in the industry. From Sarah Cameron to Hollywood gigs, Madelyn has been able to dip her toe into different roles and fictional worlds and has been gaining experience and wisdom wherever she can find it - especially when it comes to her two-season-long run as Outer Banks' Sarah Cameron. "I think we've infused a lot of ourselves into the story and into our characters," Cline explained in the interview. "I think I know Sarah."
But after busy 2021 on multiple sets, the rising star had the opportunity to learn from some of the biggest names in the industry. Madelyn scored the chance of a lifetime by being cast in the highly anticipated Knives Out 2 alongside some heavy-hitting castmates. She recalled the initial excitement she felt after finding out she landed a role, which was quickly followed by some serious nerves. The eager star recalled thinking, "'Oh s**t, now I have to do this work. Now I have to put my money where my mouth is,' and really do the prep work as much as you possibly can with limited material because it's super top secret."
And by the end of her time filming, the MTV Movie & TV Award-winning actress was overwhelmed with how thankful she felt for the opportunity to work alongside the likes of Kathryn Hahn, Kate Hudson, and Janelle Monáe. But luckily, she wasn't the only one feeling the love. "At the very end of it, we had a dinner and everybody went around and poured their heart out," Madelyn recalled. And soon it was her time to share. "I've grown up admiring your work, and obviously this whole time we've been trying so hard not to fangirl, but it's been like the most amazing experience," she told her award-winning castmates.
We're fangirling too, Maddie!
