In her short time in the music industry, our girl Billie has accomplished a whole lot. From countless Grammy wins to being chosen for a James Bond opening song and headlining Coachella, it seems as though she's been flying high from the fame. But she's also been honest about the downsides of popularity and kept it real when it comes to her personal struggles. And after this latest interview, it's safe to say that things aren't always blissful for the 20-year-old singer...
Billie sat down with the Sunday Times and opened up about the difficult relationship she has with her body image and how being in the public eye has affected it over the years. According to Eilish, she's dealing with the same issues she's had since the age of 11, calling her relationship with her body a "truly horrible, terrible thing." And while, on a certain level, she's gotten used to the body image issues, the constant tabloid pressure hasn't made it easy. "No matter what you do, it's wrong and right," the frustrated singer shared. "Wearing baggy clothes, nobody is attracted to me. I feel incredibly unlovable and unsexy and not beautiful, and people shame you for not being feminine enough." But the flip side wasn't so appealing either...
"Then you wear something more revealing, and they're like, 'You're such a fat cow w****.' I'm a s***, and I'm a sellout, and I'm just like every other celebrity selling their bodies, and woah! What the f*** do you want?" But at the end of the day, Billie realized that the feelings she had were not rare in the industry. "It's a crazy world for women and women in the public eye," she explained of the difficult position she finds herself in. "I do have this worry that I felt so undesirable that I may have occasionally tried too hard to be desirable," Billie confessed. "It makes me sad to think about."
