| LAST UPDATE 08/03/2022
To infinity and beyond! One Texas student just rang in his high-school graduation - and it morphed him into an online sensation. Here's why users can't get enough of the teen's hilarious post.
High-school graduate Josiah Robles knew he wanted to do something different when his May 28 graduation date came rolling around this year. Lucky for him, he knew exactly what that was. “So long Somerset,” Robles shared on Twitter, alongside a picture of his favorite childhood toys “sending him off” to college. Sound familiar? "About two years ago, my mom had seen a Facebook post of a kid doing the same sort of thing for the first day of kindergarten," Robles revealed to TODAY Parents of how he came to recreate the famous scene online. "It was really just the final farewell kind of deal." Little did the student know, his heartwarming post would take off the way that it did...
"I had no idea it was going to have that kind of impact," the graduate revealed. Sure enough, though, that's exactly what happened. The online tribute raked in over 18,000 likes and over 1,000 retweets. But there was actually one impressed user who soon stood out from the rest: "Welcome to the #BaylorFamily, Josiah - can't wait to have you here," Baylor University's - his future alma mater - official Twitter account soon chimed in.
With Robles set to study mechanical engineering at Baylor University in the Fall, we're expecting great things from the wisecracking student. As for his childhood friends? "I know they’ll be waiting for me," he gushed of Buzz Lightyear, Woody, and the rest of the gang...
