On Saturday, May 14th, Selena Gomez made many fans crack up laughing during her Saturday Night Live hosting debut. As usual, the celebrity guest started the night out with hilarious monologue - and let's just say the 29-year-old did not disappoint. Especially when it came time to poke fun at herself and her relationship status. Here's what she said...
"One reason I've been very happy to host is because I'm single," the actress opened up. "And I've heard SNL is a great place to find romance." She went on to list how many other stars have been able to find love on the comedy show - from Emma Stone to Scarlett Johansson, who met their significant others on set. Gomez also joked that Machine Gun Kelly and Pete Davidson got together through SNL. She continued explaining how she's not a big fan of dating apps, but she is desperate to find love. "I just want to put it out into the universe that I'm manifesting love. I would like to say that I'm looking for my soulmate, but at this point, I will take anyone," she joked. That's when Kyle Mooney, an SNL comedian, jumped in, telling Gomez that he wouldn't mind being her boyfriend. After rejecting him, another cast member, James Austin Johnson, and Punkie Johnson also tried to shoot their shot - but again, Gomez turned the men down.
But her monologue was just the beginning of the hilarious content that Gomez was a part of the rest of the night. From a Bratz dolls sketch to a skit about a theater group performing A Storm Within who all get sick with COVID-19, causing their roles to be taken by their unprepared understudies. At one point, Gomez was even joined by her Only Murders In the Building co-star Steve Martin for a pre-recorded sketch, where he played the creator of the whoopee cushion, Archie Gizmo.

Gomez put on a great show, which honestly doesn't surprise us since the star had already made a guest appearance on SNL before in a 2016 episode that was hosted by professional wrestler Rhonda Rousey. But we're happy the writers asked her to return to have her own hosting gig - and make us laugh out loud all night! Check out some of Gomez's hilarious skits here.
