Mariah Carey mixed up her Shawns recently as she was sending out her holiday wishes for St. Patrick's Day. She took to Twitter to reveal the texting mishap - and it was hilarious on so many levels...
The We Belong Together singer has a lot of Shawns on her phone, and it led to a hilarious texting mishap with 23-year-old singer Shawn Mendes. Mariah tweeted a screenshot of the funny exchange that followed the error, and it was priceless! In the texts, she wishes Shawn a "Happy Thanksgiving," before realizing the recipient at the other end of the convo was the wrong Shawn. She then sent a second message that reads "Wrong Shawn. Sorry. Also, I do realize it is NOT Thanksgiving. Haha." LMAO. But although it looked like she had confused both the names and the holidays, her tweet explained that only one of the two mix-ups was unintentional.
"My cousin Shawn M and I have this silly joke where we tell each other Happy Thanksgiving on St. Patrick's Day," read the caption over the screenshot. And the Treat You Better singer's response was pretty understanding: "hahahaha that's okay I figured it was an inside joke," followed by two red heart emojis. The hilarious exchange reminds us of another funny social media action that happened between the two. In January 2021, Mendes posted a selfie with the caption, "Grateful. The sun, coffee, my health, my family, old Mariah Carey songs, music, humans!!!" Carey was quick to recreate the adorable post with her own photo, writing that she was "grateful" for the "sun, tea, my health, my family, old Shawn Mendes songs, music, humans!!!" We can't get enough of the hilarious friendship between these two.
But Mariah Carey isn't the only celebrity whose texts recently ended up in the wrong person's mailbox. Just a week before she tweeted the funny screenshot, 28-year-old singer Rosalía made an appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon and shared a similar anecdote. She hilariously showed fans screenshots from the time Harry Styles had a convo over text with a complete stranger, thinking he was texting Rosalía. Needless to say, Fallon's audience was in stitches over the hilarious mix-up. Looks like even the most famous celebrities have made their fair share of texting mishaps - but at least they usually give their fans a good laugh!
