We're all been there… you show up to your dentist appointment, and the doctor asks you if you've been flossing. Uh oh, do we tell them the truth or lie and say yes? Truth is, they can probably already tell that you haven't picked up floss in quite a while just by looking inside your mouth. And we know it can be so annoying to do the tedious routine each night, but we're here to tell you that there is an easier way to get the job done! Here's everything you need to know about water flossing.

Flossing is crucial for dental health care because it's the only way to really get in and deep clean the teeth and the gums. It's something that a regular old toothbrush just can't get done, so let's all start flossing more to achieve a healthy and whiter smile! "The key to achieving and maintaining your pearly whites is your home oral hygiene routine," said Dr. Kevin Sands of Beverly Hills Cosmetic Dentistry. But we can't help but wonder if we should always use the classic string floss or if a water flossing tool works just the same? Well, according, to the dentist, "Most people brush and floss for the most part, but not everyone has jumped on the water flossing wagon. Water flossing can be very effective in dislodging food debris and surface plaque, which can absorb and stain teeth if not removed."

Okay, sounds like w might need to invest in a water flosser. But that doesn't mean we'll be tossing out our other types of floss. Dr. Sands explained that actually, both are needed for optimal results. "When performing your oral hygiene routine, you should floss to dislodge food particles and plaque, water floss to flush out the debris, and finally, brush to clean all surfaces and reap the benefits of the fluoride toothpaste," he advised.

Essentially, the dental hygiene tool should be incorporated into your nightly routine rather than using it instead of something else. Check out these water flossers on Amazon, so that next time you are at the dentist's office you won't be worried about that one dreaded question...
