Sometimes (if not most of the time), it feels like there are simply not enough hours in the day to get things done. This is especially true when you take away 6-8 hours of sleep and a some time set aside to care for yourself. But with the correct prioritization, it turns out you actually have a lot more time than you think! Here are some helpful tips and tricks.
Counterintuitive as it may sound, sleep is actually the #1 way to make sure you're able to get your tasks done in time. We often think we need to sacrifice a few hours of sleep in order to have more time to accomplish things, but in fact, the opposite is true. When our bodies and minds are healthy and well-rested, we experience less distractions throughout the day that take valuable time away from us. So make sure you get your 6-8 hours, because they definitely go a long way in terms of productivity!
Now, when it comes to the actual tasks themselves, the first step you need to do is create a plan and stick to it. The less committed you are to your plan, the less likely you are to actually getting anything done. If it helps, you can even create deadlines (preferably realistic ones) to help plan your long and busy day. This way, it also makes it easier to determine which tasks require more of your immediate time and attention, and which you can worry about later. Plus, most people work better under pressure, and we all know nothing motivates us more (in a good way!) than a nearing deadline.

Another very important thing to keep in mind when it comes to saving time during a busy day is: do not attempt to multitask. Often, our brains trick us into thinking that working on 5 things at once gets them done quicker. But in reality, it's the opposite. Task-switching requires lots of mental time and effort, and asking our brains to readjust to working on different projects frequently is not ideal. It's less easy to get distracted when you're focused on one thing at a time. Not only that, but grouping similar tasks together also helps the brain become more productive within the same amount of time. So, the next time you feel like you have too much on your plate, be sure to keep these time management hacks in mind!
