Everyone has been there. The TV is on, and you accidentally fall asleep, all cuddled up in your coziest blankets on the couch. Or perhaps you were tossing and turning for hours in your bed, so you take refuge on your couch. Or maybe you prefer to sleep on the couch. For those who fall asleep on their sofas, here are a few tips on how to do so comfortably.
First things first, taking off the back cushions of the couch will increase the space for sleeping and create a more bed-like environment. This will also help prevent you from accidentally rolling over. It may seem silly, but adding a sheet over the cushions will help immensely. Your couch will go from just a sofa to a comfy place to sleep. It will also help keep the cushions together. You don’t want half of your bed to fall off at night! Just like onions, you are going to need layers. Temperatures can vary greatly through the night, and having different blankets to put on or take off during the night will ensure an ideal sleep, no matter the temperature.
How to sleep comfortably is also impacted by the way that you sleep. However, couches are not as long as beds usually tend to be, so positions will have to be adjusted. Sleeping on your back is ideal for many reasons, including preventing chest wrinkles. However, if that is not possible with the couch you plan on sleeping on, then sleeping in the fetal position is another excellent way to snooze. If falling asleep is still tricky and you really can’t get comfortable on the couch, then try the floor. Use the back cushions from the couch and your sheet, blankets, and pillows to create a makeshift mattress on the ground.
