Black Friday is the biggest shopping day of the year. It is filled with the best deals from the best stores. From sales that started in October to Cyber Monday, there is so much to navigate around the sales of Black Friday. So, as Regina George would say, “Get in, loser. We’re going shopping.”

One of the best tips is to start your shopping early. Many retailers have begun offering deals starting in October so planners can begin their shopping sprees before the holidays. Another tip is to skip going into the store and shop online. According to Consumer Reports, in recent years, retailers have been offering the same promotions online and in the stores - and stores have often been closing on Thanksgiving, so even more reason to take your shopping to the internet! If you are in a loyalty program, use that to your benefit. Big chains and even small ones usually offer early access coupons or sales to members, so you can get a head start on all your shopping. To be safer, check the return policies on any item you buy. The fine print may reveal a restocking fee you must pay if it’s returned.

Electronics have always been a staple of Black Friday. People wait all year to purchase their gaming stations or a new flat screen for their living room. Here are a few tips for upgrading or getting a television set. Unlike other items, for televisions, you will want to wait until it is actually Black Friday to purchase. According to Consumer Reports, discounts are predicted to be as high as 19% on average. That is a major discount! Also, beware of the cheapest television you see because it is not always worth the price. The super-discounted televisions from lesser-known brands do not provide the same quality and features as other TVs, and while it may be a reasonable price, it won’t be great when you’re trying to watch the game.

Lastly, it is best to keep a budget in mind because even though there are amazing discounts right now, it is wise to keep track of your spending so that you don’t end up leaving the store with 20 jackets, 12 television sets, and 1 big air fryer just because there was a good deal. (Unless you want to, in which case, happy shopping!)
