Tiktok users are helping thousands of people find incredible dupes for luxurious products. Dupes - a.k.a. duplicated - are products that resemble high-end, expensive ones but at a fraction of the cost. Here are some of the best dupes that influencers and TikTok users have found for the rest of us…
According to the beauty review site, Supergreat, a dupe is "an affordable product that mirrors a more expensive one in quality, formula, and/or appearance." One popular product that has been viral on TikTok for a while now is the Supergoop glow clear SPF 40 sunscreen. It retails for $36 for 1.7 fluid ounces - but luckily, the formula used isn't patented, which is why the Trader Joe's sunscreen that was launched this year has been described as "almost indistinguishable" from the OG by a New York dermatologist. And at the low cost of $9, we can see why so many people have been switching over to the grocery store sunscreen!
We guess TikTok influencers love to shell out on expensive products - how else would they maintain their hydrated and glowy skin. Right? Well... yes, but to achieve that look, we don't need to always spend $69 for 1.7 fluid ounces on a face moisturizer. The Tatcha Dewy Skin Cream Plumping & Hydrating Moisturizer has gained immense popularity because it's filled with antioxidants, Japanese purple rice, an algae blend from Okinawa, and hyaluronic acid that reduces dryness and helps the loss of elasticity. But thanks to the hard work of the TikTok dupe finders, a face moisturizer by Bliss is more than half the cost of the Tatcha one at $20... and still includes much of the same formula. "I love both Bliss and Tatcha, but in 2022 with the current inflation, I'm definitely using dupes," confessed a licensed cosmetic formulator. "Money saved is money earned."

Don't worry, though: dupes don't just apply to skincare and makeup products - many well-liked clothing and workout sets have been replicated using similar materials as their expensive counterpart. For example, the admired Lululemon Softstreme pants that are described to feel like "peach-fuzz" by their website retail for a whopping $128 dollars! But if you choose to buy the dupe, you can probably buy around 3 pairs of pants for the same price as if you bought the OG ones! TikTok user Courtney Cahoon found an Amazon pair of pants that are nearly the same - and all for just $35 dollars! "I have over half of these dupes, and I can confirm not a single one of these misses," one of her followers commented. (Thank us later.)
