Biles appeared on the Today show on October 21st to give an update on life post-Tokyo. And while the Summer games wrapped up nearly three months ago, the 24-year-old athlete confessed that she still feels "scared to do gymnastics" due to her battle with "the twisties:" a condition that left her feeling disoriented and unsafe during her routines. And this has been especially apparent as she's been appearing in the Gold Over America Tour with her fellow athletes. And while she's been enjoying her time on the mat, she has been limited in her abilities.

"I don't twist. I do double half layouts, which is my signature move on the floor that has never affected me," Simone explained during the interview. "But everything else just weighs so heavy." The period hasn't been easy for the competitive athlete, who once felt she was on top of the gymnastics world. "I watch the girls do it, and it's just not the same," Biles confessed. "To do something that I've done forever and just not be able to do it because of everything I've gone through is really crazy, because I love this sport so much," the gold medal winner confessed while holding back tears. "I don't think people understand the magnitude of what I go through."

And while the struggle wasn't easy, Simone felt hopeful for the future. "[I'm doing] a lot better. Getting the mental health therapy that I need has been relieving for me, especially being on the road," Biles continued. "The twisting will come back, but I'm still scared to do gymnastics." Plus, the love from fans has been an extra nice touch.
